Open any member fast with the S line command

Most of people in Mainframe passes E/B/V command to edit/browse/view dataset respectively against member of their choice. This usually requires going to your PDS then finding the member that you need to see and edit and then passing E/B/V command to view them. Is there any shortcut to perform same operation?

Solution

Yes, we can just pass “S <mem-name> E/B/V”. This way we do no need to find member in PDS and then coming down and pass open command.

For example in one of my PDS I want edit member “AGABVSE2”. I will pass command as below to edit same:-

Important

ortant note: If you want to open all members that starts with AGA* then you can pass “S AGA* E”. This will open all members whose name starts with AGA* in edit mode.
